- The website shows Certified Values & Ownership, as of Certification of that current year.
- All ownership changes after Certification will be shown on April 15th of the following year when the website will show Preliminary Values & Ownership of that year.
My Address Is Incorrect, How Do I Get It Changed?
Submit a “Request for Change of Address” form in writing & signed by the owner.
Note: Address changes can only be made with the signed written request of the Actual Owner as listed on the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District records or by the Owners Agent (designated by fiduciary appointment of agent on file at the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District.)

My Name Is Spelled Wrong, How Can I Get It Changed?
- Review the deed filed by your title company, confirm your name is spelled correctly.
- If your name is spelled incorrectly on the deed, your title company will need to file a Correction Deed to correct it.
- After you have verified the deed filed by your title company has the correct spelling; if FBCAD has the incorrect spelling on our records, please contact us directly.

No Longer Live At This Address, What Do I Need To Do?
- If you no longer own the property, no action is required.
- We will update our records when the deed is filed by the title company with the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office.

On The Website, It Shows My Property As “Deed With Warranty Lien” Who Has A Lien On My Property?
- The description viewed on our website—specifically when using Property Search, under Property Deed History—is the transfer document deed type filed by the title company with the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office at the time of the transfer.
- The description does not show the current status of a deed.
- FBCAD only changes the status if a new or updated deed is filed with the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office
How Do I Submit An Open Records Request?
- All open records request must be submitted in writing by mail or in person.
- We recommend precision with details regarding your request and full contact information (i.e. First, Last Name, Phone Number and Email Address) when submitting your request.

I’ve Appointed A Representative To Protest My Value For Me; How Do I Get An Update On The Decision?
- If the decision was made at an Informal Meeting; please contact your agent/representative directly.
- If the decision was made at the ARB (Appraisal Review Board) process then all decisions are mailed to the authorized representative and the property owner.
When Can I Apply For A Homestead On My Property?
- You must be Owner and Occupy the property, as of January 1st of the year you are applying for.
- You must have occupied the home as your principal residence on January 1st.
- You and/or your spouse do not claim a Residence Homestead Exemption on any other property.
